Purple Oven

Purple Oven

This cake made my 23rd birthday really special. So I want to share to all of you my wonderful experience. I really had no idea about purple oven until 2 days before my birthday, because my ate was ordering from this pastry shop for a surprise birthday party for his hubby.

So using my friendly Google search engine I typed in Purple Oven, the search result was weird because I thought that they would have their own site but only blogs with articles about their delicious and unforgettable experiences where displayed on the result. Reading through the first five articles I found out that it was really a secret store, and I was getting more intrigued as I read through, they are the supplier of one of the biggest coffee chains here in the Philippines (familiar with banoffee pie???hhmmm). We’ll I guess it’s a secret so hush-hush on the telling, okay.

There are two branches of Purple oven, one is in Oranbo Pasig near Shaw Blvd. and the other one is in Sacred Heart Makati. (Please see below for details). The closest branch from where I work is the Oranbo branch, it is the street near Valle Verde Country Club, where Oranbo Elementary School is located, turn left on the last street before going to Shaw Blvd (the street beside dunkin donut) and you'll find Purple Oven. To also conserve gas, I just called up for delivery which is just an additional 150php. I was torn between ordering Mango Walnut Torte for (780php) or their famous Grandma’s chocolate cake (570php). Since there are great reviews about the Grandma’s cake I decided to order this one.

It was rather unfortunate that while I was about to deposit my payment to their BDO account, the bank had a downtime (it was Friday), so all my hopes where gone. I called them up and told them I can deposit the payment on a Saturday,  given that short period, I cannot comply with their 2 days before delivery deposit policy, I was really, really sad. But through good faith they offered that I pay cash-on-delivery so yey! I’m still gonna have a happy happy purple oven birthday cake.

Grandama's Chocolate Cake - look at the layers

It actually arrived the time I requested it, while opening the box I was really excited I could smell the chocolates on the cake. The presentation was 5 out 5, it was a cake you could use as a centerpiece. The cake was very moist, and the chiffon was soft and it was not that sweet at all. You could finish half of this 8 inch cake in one sitting. And also the layer of the cake is really thick. I don’t think anybody could go wrong about buying any of the cakes they make. So try everything, because I know I would.

Don’t forget to try their revel bars, lemon bars and specially their chocolate macadamia cookies.

    1. hi,
If you are a classic chocolate caramel cake lover you its best if you go for Granda Ma's chocolate cake.
But if you are a more open kind / adventurous taste bud person its best to try DOME cake.

Both are a good choice. so just choose your cake based on your personality and you can consider also my suggestion above :). Happy Purple Oven cake
