Bubba Gump Shrimp Co.,

Bubba Gump Shrimp Co.,

I’m not really a Makati person, the only place I am very familiar with is the Ateneo Loyola School, and one afternoon after passing my requirements to school I decided to go to Glorietta and Greenbelt.  I did get lost and walked aimlessly around the 5 malls. Luckily, my sister was working at Makati so I sent her a text message to meet me at Greenbelt 3, because I was too tired to walk and look for her.  I really wanted to eat at Bubba Gump, so when this opportunity arises I just had to bite it.

The restaurant is like a big boat house, with decorations inspired by the film Forrest Gump.  We were seated on the non-smoking area of Bubba Gump. The waiters explained to us the purpose of the 2 steel plates, the red steel plates which has a “Stop Forrest Stop” sign notifies a waiter that you need their service, within seconds a waiter will materialize beside you. The Blue steel plates with “Run Forrest Run”, is a sign for don’t bother me I’m eating.

For appetizer we ordered Bubba Gump Onion Rings for 172php. The Bubba Gump Onion Rings is served in a steel rod about a foot long with Ranch and BBQ Dippin’ sauces.

Bubba Gump specializes in seafood meals but they also serve great meat dishes, I do recommend Dixie Style Baby Back Ribs. Unlike other baby back ribs I tried, this one takes minimum effort to chew because the meat is very soft and tender. The serving is enormous and very tasty.

I ordered their Bubba Gump Stuffed Shrimp for 575php, a really expensive meal if you asked me. The Bubba Gump Stuffed Shrimp combines the 2 best tasting seafood meat, which are the shrimp and crab meat. Then oven baked with jasmine rice, cooked in a white creamy sauce and cheese. For most health conscious this contains less oil because it's oven baked.

We also ordered Grilled dory with Jambalaya for 398php, this meal is spicy but you can adjust the spice depending on your preference just don’t forget to tell the waiter when you order.  The Grilled dory with Jambalaya is grilled dory over a spicy New Orleans’s style jambalaya with shrimps and Andouille sausage.

For our drinks we order Bubba Gump Mango Smoothies and Bubba Gump Speckled Lemonade (strawberry) which I really enjoyed :-).

Their food may be pricey, but it’s all worth it. The portions are really enormous – the food on the menu is big enough for 2-3 persons.  But with the delicious taste of Bubba Gump’s food you might end up eating the whole meal by yourself. But make sure to leave room for dessert, a must try is their Alabama Mud Pie.

Their service is excellent, the staffs are very friendly and they really take time to listen to your requests. Overall, I highly recommend Bubba Gump Shrimp Co., if you have the budget don’t hesitate to treat yourself to a great meal at this wonderful place. Budget per person is around 300php - 1000php.
