Ambos Mundo |
They say this is one of the oldest restaurants in the Philippines and I also have read this on Carlos Celdran’s blog, he describes the menus as “definitely Rizalian” and the interior design as “Nick Joaquin chic.” Patrons will be amused to see a black pig lounging near the entryway of the establishment. The staff says the pig is there for luck.
Ambos Mundo restaurant is located at the Sta.Cruz, Manila across another restaurant Wah Sun which I wrote about last Feb 2011 on this blog. As the name suggest, it serves both worlds Filipino and Spanish cuisine.
The Narra Wall and furniture plus menu written in chalk give an old world aura for Ambos Mundos. We took our brunch here which is composed of tapsilog and porksilog.
Porksilog, Coke and Tapsilog |
The prices are very affordable I think we spent less than 120php on each of our food, the food were tasty and the experience is incredible, just eating at a place with a tag line “the oldest restaurant in the Philippines” lets you have the bragging rights!

ReplyDelete@cathy If your taking the LRT2 train get off the last station (Recto) then walk towards the Carriedo exit and cross the road, there is a sign that says Florentino street, Wah Sun is just upfront.
ReplyDeleteIf your driving, just follow the recto road, when you reach the LRT2 Recto station, count 2 streets from that landmark and you will find florentino street, take a left and you'll see Wah Sun.
I have a tip to add. Park your car in Sta. Cruz Church then hail a tricycle. P50 for 3 of us.
