Estrel's Caramel Cake

Estrel's Caramel Cake, Quezon City

Not familiar with Scout Tobias road my sister and I bravely drove around this area to look for Estrel’s Caramel cake. My sister was the first one to have tasted the famous Caramel cake. And ever since, she have pleaded that I take her to Estrel’s. She even printed a Google map showing the location of Estrel’s. Since it was her birthday and she was willing to pay for the gas and the cake, I offered my chauffer service for free.

The place was a bit hard to find since its small but a very quaint place. There were a lot of parked cars in front of the store, so we have to park one block away from the store. It is said that Estrel’s Caramel Cake started way back 1946, and till now, competing with other famous cake houses in the country. Minutes away from finding the reason why this cake attracts a lot of people, I was getting excited.

From the display shelf you can see their hand-made cake. I really loved their icing flowers; I haven’t seen an original soft icing flower in years. Plus the design of the cake is very well crafted, everything is carefully detailed and done it an artistic way.

Sadly, we weren’t able to buy a caramel cake that day, their best seller, they told us to place a call for a caramel cake a day before. But we opted for their second best seller the Marshmallow Butter Cake with 10x12 inches in size.

There were a lot of people coming in and out of the store so; I was really excited to have a taste of this cake. My verdict for Estrel’s Marshmallow Butter cake, the chiffon was very soft almost like a melts-in-the-mouth kind of feeling, not very stiff like most commercial cake. The sweetness is just perfect for your taste bud, the marshmallow mixes well with the buttery tastes of the chiffon and the soft flower icing was perfect.

But do remember that Estrel’s produces limited quantity everyday so place you orders a day or 2 before the occasion. And since it has no preservative, shelf life is good for 2 days but, I recommend consuming it on the day. Cake flavors are limited to Chiffon, Plain Vanilla, Lemon, Mocha and Marble. Everything is a must try. But for first timer order a Caramel Cake . Price ranges from 650php to 5000php. Cakes can be customized but be sure to order ahead.

  4. For those of you who would like to recreate this cake, check the recipe in

It is so good. A bit darker than Estrel but it may be very similar - although I have never tasted Estrel myself.

I believe not, pero you have to consume it at most 3 days. Thanks!
I gave it to a friend before, it was about 6 hrs drive to her province and the cake still turned out okay when we reached her house.
